Program Description
The Community Health Worker Training Program (CHWTP) is a combined training and apprenticeship program serving the city of Charlotte and the Charlotte Metropolitan Area surrounding counties: Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, Gaston, Lincoln, Union, Mecklenburg, Gastonia, Concord, and Huntersville. The program is funded through Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW).
The program is a paraprofessional training program in which participants can receive training to become a community health worker specialist. Participants receive training to address the population needs identified in the American Healthcare Act (ACA). The training program provides a path to employment and the skills to assist residents increase access to health and social services, while building resilience in the communities.

The ideal candidate is an “individual” who lives in the community or has a unique understanding of the community’s needs.
